What makes a show interactive

In most public rooms, a tip is a thank-you or pays for something on the performer's menu. In an interactive show, a tip also causes an immediate, visible reaction. The performer connects a device or a game to the room, and each tip sets it off.

The best-known example is a tip-activated toy. Performers can link certain devices to the site so that a tip makes the device respond, with the strength or length of the response depending on the size of the tip. The performer decides which tip levels do what, and the room usually shows those levels on screen.

Common interactive formats

• Tip-activated toys. A tip sets off a response for a few seconds. Bigger tips usually mean a longer or stronger reaction.
• Games and wheels. A tip spins a wheel, draws a card or rolls a number, and the result decides what happens next.
• Goals and countdowns. The room tips toward a shared target. These exist in ordinary public shows too, but interactive rooms often chain several together.

1. Read the levels The room description or an on-screen panel lists which tip amounts trigger which reaction.
2. Buy tokens first Interactive rooms move quickly. Having tokens ready means you are not topping up in the middle of the moment.
3. Tip deliberately Choose the level you want rather than tipping repeatedly out of excitement.
4. Watch the reaction The response happens on stream straight away, and many rooms display who tipped.

What to look for before you tip

A well-run interactive room makes its rules easy to find. Before sending anything, check three things: the current levels and what each one does, whether the device or game is active right now, and any rules about tipping, such as a minimum amount for requests. If you cannot find this information, ask in the chat or simply watch for a while; the pattern usually becomes clear within minutes.

Why people enjoy them

Interactive shows give viewers a direct, visible effect on what happens, even in a busy room. Some people enjoy the game element, others the shared momentum of a room working toward a goal together. They are also a middle ground between watching for free and paying for a private show: you can take part in small amounts without booking anyone's time.

Interactive rooms suit you if you like being part of what happens, enjoy a game element or want a show that responds to the whole room rather than to one person.
