Projekt Melody

Who Melody is

Projekt Melody, usually just Melody, is a virtual performer: a 3D anime-style character who presents herself as an artificial intelligence that became self-aware. A human performer voices and moves the avatar, as VICE reported when she arrived, but the character is the act, and the character is all this page covers. It doesn't go into who is behind her.

The storyline began on Twitter in July 2019, where she posed as a broken chat program slowly waking up. Her first Chaturbate stream followed on 7 February 2020, and within days VICE and XBIZ were writing about her.

How her Chaturbate shows work

Her room is projektmelody. The avatar runs live in the Unity game engine, so her face, voice, eyes and fingers move in real time and she can answer the chat as it happens rather than play back recorded animation. The original model was designed by DigitrevX, an animator who builds avatars for VTubers.

The rest works like any Chaturbate room. Watching is free, tips are paid in tokens, and what a tip buys is up to the performer. If tokens are new to you, how tipping works covers the basics and what tokens are explains how they are bought.

What's missing is the point: there is no webcam, no bedroom and no real-world backdrop. Outfits, expressions and on-screen effects all happen through the avatar. If you want a person on camera, this is a different kind of show. If you are curious how a virtual performer works live, that difference is why people go.

Why her debut started an argument

Her fast rise annoyed some human cam models. One told VICE that an avatar doesn't carry the risks human performers do, from trolls and difficult customers to stalkers, and suggested avatars might belong on a separate platform. She also pointed out that thousands of human models work far more than a normal week to reach the front page, and some never do, while others wondered how an avatar had got through the site's verification at all. Melody's answer, as VICE reported it, was that a performer's place on the site should depend on her content and her community, not on the risks she takes. Chaturbate didn't comment at the time.

A year later the site gave her one of its own awards: Creative Cam Show Visionary, in the "A Decade with Chaturbate" awards for its tenth anniversary.

Twitch, YouTube and VShojo

A month after the Chaturbate debut she started streaming on Twitch, which made her a partner before her first stream there. Twitch's rules apply to an avatar like anyone else: it suspended her for three days in March 2020, updated its nudity and attire policy that April to cover digital characters, and suspended her again in November 2020 after a copyright claim over the model, lifting it the next day.

In late 2020 she was on the launch roster of VShojo, an agency set up to raise the profile of English-speaking VTubers. In July 2025 she announced she was leaving it. Away from Chaturbate, The VTuber Awards named her Lewdtuber of the Year in 2023.

Before you visit

Her platforms aren't interchangeable. Twitch and YouTube carry her work-safe streams; the adult shows are on Chaturbate. We couldn't confirm a current streaming schedule from a reliable source, so the room page is the place to check when she is next on. Our guide to cam room etiquette applies here as much as anywhere: the person running the avatar reads the chat.
