Camming as a couple on Chaturbate: setup, rules and splitting the money

Plenty of people first think about camming as something they'd do with a partner rather than alone. On Chaturbate that's common enough to have its own section of the room list: Couples sits next to Women, Men and Trans, and viewers browse it on purpose. One account or two?

You have two ways to set this up, and the choice matters later.

One account, both of you verified on it. You share a single room and a single name. Both of you go through the age check on that account, and you broadcast together.

Two accounts, linked as guests. Each of you keeps your own account, and you add each other as guest accounts. A guest account has to be added on both sides: you enter their username, they enter yours, and it only goes active once both have done it. This suits couples where one or both already broadcast alone, or want the option to.

Either way, up to five people can be on a stream at once, and you can link up to five guest accounts. If someone new needs verifying, they verify and sign the broadcaster agreement first, and approval can take up to half an hour.

The rules that apply to both of you

Everyone who appears on your stream has to be an age-verified adult added to the account. That includes a partner who only appears for a minute. Streaming with someone who isn't verified can cost you your verification status or the account.

Three more rules come up for couples in particular:

• No surprise appearances. The guidelines say not to broadcast at all if someone unverified might walk into the shot. A flatmate who could wander past is a reason to change rooms or lock the door.
• No relatives together. Blood relatives can't share an account or appear in content together.
• Either of you can stop. Each performer decides what they're comfortable with, and that applies inside a couple as much as with viewers. A no from one of you ends that request.

Who controls a shared account

This is the part almost nobody reads, and the one that matters most if things change between you. The platform's terms say that when an account has more than one age-verified person on it, the person in control is the one whose email address is on the account. If payment details are attached, the person being paid is in control instead.

In practice, whoever's email and payout details are on the account owns it as far as the platform is concerned. If you're sharing one account, talk about that openly before you start, and decide what happens to the room, its followers and its earnings if one of you wants to stop. Writing it down costs nothing. Two linked accounts avoid the question, because each of you keeps your own.

How the money is paid

Tokens earned in your room are paid out to whoever is set up to receive them. Payment needs an approved age check and a signed broadcaster agreement, and anyone else receiving the money has to do both too. The name in the payment details must match the ID and agreement exactly.

A single shared account usually means one payout to one person, and you split it between yourselves. That's simple, but it's another reason the control question above matters. How Chaturbate pays models lists the payout methods, minimums and fees.

Sharing the work

A solo performer does everything at once. As a couple you can divide it, and the rooms that work well usually do.

1. Pick roles for each show One of you watches chat, thanks tippers and keeps an eye on goals while the other is the focus on camera. Swap when it suits you.
2. Write the tip menu together Agree what each of you is happy to offer before it goes on the menu, so neither of you is put on the spot live.
3. Set a signal Have a quick, private way to say "not that" or "let's take a break" that viewers won't notice.
4. Plan the bio together The bio is edited under About Me on your profile, in plain text or HTML. Chaturbate's lesson on bios is presented by a couple, peppermintdusty, and its advice is to keep any HTML light.

Viewers in couple rooms enjoy the dynamic between you, so let it show. They also tend to address one person and ignore the other, or try to play you off against each other. Decide in advance how you'll handle that; moderators and blocking are there for it.

Privacy, times two

Everything about keeping your identity separate applies to both of you, and a mistake by one exposes the other.
