Private cam shows explained: what you pay for and what to expect

What you are paying for

A private show is time with a performer on your own. While it lasts, the performer's attention is on you rather than on a public room, and the conversation is between the two of you. You are paying for that time and attention, at a rate the performer sets, usually a number of tokens per minute.

What happens in the show is still up to both of you, within the performer's limits and the site's rules. Paying for time does not change what a performer is willing to do, which is why the first minute of a good private show is usually a short, friendly agreement about what you are both there for.

Before you request a show

How a private show usually runs

1. Request Use the private show button in the room. The rate is shown before you confirm.
2. Acceptance The performer accepts or declines. Performers can decline without giving a reason.
3. The show Tokens are taken from your balance as time passes. The site usually shows the running cost.
4. Ending Either of you can end the show. If your balance runs out, the show ends automatically.

Details differ between sites, so read any confirmation screen carefully the first few times.

Starting well

A short, polite message at the start makes the show better for both of you. Say hello, say what you are hoping for in general terms, and ask if that works for them. Performers appreciate clarity, and it avoids spending paid minutes on misunderstandings.

If the answer is no to something, accept it gracefully. Pushing after a no is the quickest way to have a show ended early.

Keeping an eye on cost

• note the time you started and the time your limit runs out;
• glance at your balance or the running total now and then, rather than only at the end.

When you reach your limit, end the show with a thank-you. There is nothing awkward about it; performers are used to shows ending on time.

If something goes wrong

Most private shows run smoothly, but it helps to know what to do when one does not:

• The video freezes or drops. Connection problems happen on both sides. Give it a moment; if the show does not recover, end it so you are not paying for a frozen screen.
• The show is not what you agreed. Say so politely in the chat. If it cannot be sorted out, end the show. You are never obliged to stay until your limit.
• You were charged in a way you did not expect. Note the time and the amount, then contact the site's support team. The site that took your payment is the one that can review it.
• Someone breaks the rules or makes you uncomfortable. End the show and use the site's report function.

Etiquette in private

Private shows follow the same courtesy as public rooms, with a few additions:

• keep personal information out of it, yours and theirs;
• do not ask to continue on another app or pay the performer directly;
• if you want to book again, a follow and a kind word are enough.
